1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Section 3 of Article VIII of the Constitution of
3 the State of Illinois provides that the General Assembly, by
4 a vote of three-fifths of the members elected to each house,
5 shall appoint an Auditor General; and
6 WHEREAS, The General Assembly has, by Section 2-3 of the
7 Illinois State Auditing Act, charged the Legislative Audit
8 Commission with the responsibility of diligently searching
9 out qualified candidates for the office and making
10 recommendations to the General Assembly, and, pursuant to
11 this statutory mandate, the Legislative Audit Commission has
12 conducted a diligent search and has recommended to the
13 General Assembly the appointment of William G. Holland of
14 Springfield, Illinois, as Auditor General; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
17 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that pursuant to Section 3 of
18 Article VIII of the Constitution and upon the recommendation
19 of the Legislative Audit Commission, William G. Holland of
20 Springfield, Illinois, is appointed Auditor General for the
21 State of Illinois for a term commencing on August 1, 2002.
