1 AN ACT concerning State employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of
5 1971 is amended by adding Section 6.15 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 375/6.15 new)
7 Sec. 6.15. Coverage for contraceptives.
8 (a) The program of health benefits shall provide
9 coverage for outpatient contraceptive services and outpatient
10 contraceptive drugs or devices approved by the Food and Drug
11 Administration. Coverage required under this Section may not
12 impose any deductible, coinsurance, waiting period, or other
13 cost-sharing or limitation that is greater than that required
14 for any outpatient service or outpatient prescription drug or
15 device otherwise covered by the program of health benefits.
16 (b) As used in this Section, "outpatient contraceptive
17 service" means consultations, examinations, procedures, and
18 medical services, provided on an outpatient basis and related
19 to the use of contraceptive methods (including natural family
20 planning) to prevent an unintended pregnancy.
