1 AN ACT concerning the environment.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended
5 by adding Section 14.7 as follows:
6 (415 ILCS 5/14.7 new)
7 Sec. 14.7. Well Water Contamination Grant Program.
8 (a) There is created within the State Treasury a special
9 fund to be known as the Well Water Contamination Grant Fund,
10 which shall be used, subject to appropriation, and
11 administered by the Agency to establish a grant program for
12 homeowners in this State who have lost their water source due
13 to well contamination.
14 (b) The Agency shall establish a program whereby
15 homeowners who have lost their water source due to well
16 contamination may apply for up to $100,000 in grant money to
17 be used for the cleanup of the contaminated well.
18 (c) The Agency shall adopt rules as necessary to
19 implement this Section.
20 Section 10. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
21 Section 5.570 as follows:
22 (30 ILCS 105/5.570 new)
23 Sec. 5.570. The Well Water Contamination Grant Fund.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
