1 AN ACT relating to State employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of
5 1971 is amended by changing Section 15.1 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 375/15.1) (from Ch. 127, par. 535.1)
7 Sec. 15.1. Optometric services. Every group health
8 insurance program or self-insurance health plan which
9 provides coverage for services coming within the practice of
10 optometry as defined in the Illinois Optometric Practice Act
11 of 1987, as now or hereafter amended, shall provide to each
12 member a written notice that such member may elect for
13 optometric services received to be reimbursed to either a
14 physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches
15 or to an optometrist licensed in this State.
16 This Section applies only to persons who become covered
17 by such group insurance program or self-insurance health plan
18 after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1979.
