1 AN ACT with regard to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 changing Section 12-801 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/12-803) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-803)
7 Sec. 12-803. (a) Each school bus shall be equipped with
8 a stop signal arm on the driver's side of the school bus that
9 may be operated either manually or mechanically. For each
10 school bus manufactured on and after September 1, 1992, the
11 stop signal arm shall be an octagon shaped semaphore that
12 conforms to 49 C.F.R. 571.131, "SCHOOL BUS PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
13 DEVICES", S5.1 through S5.5.
14 (b) Each school bus manufactured before prior to
15 September 1, 1992 shall be equipped with a stop signal arm
16 that conforms to standards promulgated by the Department.
