1 AN ACT in relation to food safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Shell Egg Sales Act.
6 Section 5. Sale of pasteurized shell eggs required. A
7 person engaged in business as a retailer of food for human
8 consumption on the business premises may sell only
9 pasteurized shell eggs for human consumption on those
10 premises if:
11 (1) in the course of that business, the person sells
12 food for consumption by persons including those who are
13 either (i) 8 years of age or younger or (ii) 55 years of
14 age or older; and
15 (2) the food sold for human consumption on the
16 business premises includes shell eggs.
17 Section 10. Administration of Act. The Department of
18 Public Health shall administer this Act.
