1 AN ACT concerning compensation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by
5 adding Section 5.5 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 120/5.5 new)
7 Sec. 5.5. Temporary reduction for certain officers.
8 (a) The rate of annual compensation of each elected
9 executive branch officer and each member of the General
10 Assembly during the first 2 years of his or her term of
11 office that begins in January of 2003 shall be at a rate 2%
12 less than the rate of annual compensation in effect for the
13 office on December 15, 2001.
14 (b) For the 2 years of the term of office during which
15 the compensation of an elected executive branch officer or
16 General Assembly member is governed by this Section, the
17 compensation of the officer or member shall be determined
18 solely as provided in this Section and shall not be increased
19 by any cost-of-living adjustment, automatic or otherwise.
20 (c) This Section applies notwithstanding any other
21 provision of this or any other Act, any recommendation of the
22 Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of the General
23 Assembly or the Senate or House of Representatives.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
