 1        AN ACT concerning public graveyards.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Public  Graveyards  Act  is  amended by
 5    changing Section 2c as follows:

 6        (50 ILCS 610/2c) (from Ch. 21, par. 14c)
 7        Sec. 2c.  Use of township funds.
 8        (a)  The  board  of  trustees   of   any   township   may
 9    appropriate  funds  from the township treasury to be used for
10    the  purpose  of  putting  any  old,  neglected  graves   and
11    cemeteries  controlled, managed, and owned by the township in
12    a cleaner and more  respectable  condition.   The  amount  so
13    appropriated  shall  not  exceed, in any one year, the sum of
14    $300, unless a larger  sum  is  authorized  by  the  township
15    electors at an annual or special town meeting.
16        (b)  The   board   of   trustees   of  any  township  may
17    appropriate funds from the township treasury to be  used  for
18    the  maintenance  of a cemetery owned by the State or another
19    unit of local  government.  The  board  of  trustees  of  any
20    township  may appropriate funds from the township treasury to
21    be used for the maintenance of non-profit cemeteries, but not
22    for religious or sectarian purposes.

24        Section 97.  Severability.  The provisions  of  this  Act
25    are severable under Section 1.31 of the Statute on Statutes.
