92_HB3699 LRB9211146SMpk 1 AN ACT concerning compensation. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 5 State Government Leaders' Salary Reduction Act. 6 Section 5. Intent. It is the intent of the General 7 Assembly that the negative impact of State budget shortfalls 8 be partially absorbed by those persons in State government 9 who are in leadership positions in order to balance the cuts 10 of the pay of other State employees proposed by the Governor. 11 Section 10. Salary reduction. Notwithstanding any other 12 provision of law to the contrary, each of the following are 13 subject to a one-time, temporary salary reduction for State 14 fiscal year 2002 only: 15 the Governor; 16 the Lieutenant Governor; 17 the Attorney General; 18 the Secretary of State; 19 the Comptroller; 20 the Treasurer; 21 each member of the General Assembly; and 22 the head of each executive branch and legislative 23 branch State agency. 24 The one-time, temporary salary reduction shall be equal to 5 25 working-day's salary for each person affected. The reduction 26 shall be reflected in the paycheck received for the first pay 27 period in calendar year 2002. The salary reduction shall not 28 adversely impact the person's pension, insurance, or other 29 employee benefits. The State shall make State contributions 30 to Social Security, State contributions to the pension -2- LRB9211146SMpk 1 system, and employee contributions to the pension system 2 based on the person's unreduced salary. 3 Section 15. Definition; executive branch and legislative 4 branch State agency. For purposes of this Act, "executive 5 branch and legislative branch State agency" means all 6 agencies of the executive branch and the legislative branch 7 of State government that are included within the definition 8 of "State agencies" in Section 1-7 of the Illinois State 9 Auditing Act. 10 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 11 becoming law.
