1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 11-1429 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/11-1429 new)
7 Sec. 11-1429. Driving in alleys.
8 (a) The driver of a vehicle may enter an alley only for
9 the purpose of ingress to or egress from a building or
10 property abutting the alley. The use of an alley for through
11 vehicular traffic is prohibited.
12 (b) This Section does not apply to authorized emergency
13 vehicles.
14 (c) This Section does not prohibit the use of an alley
15 for through vehicular traffic under a temporary detour
16 authorized by a governmental body or a law enforcement
17 agency.
