1 AN ACT concerning elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding
5 Section 9-25.5 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/9-25.5 new)
7 Sec. 9-25.5. Contributions by regulated entities.
8 (a) A regulated entity, or person or agent acting on
9 behalf of a regulated entity, shall not make, directly or
10 indirectly, any contribution to any person who is a public
11 official or a candidate or nominee for public office.
12 (b) For purposes of this Section:
13 "Contribution" means the same as in Section 9-1.4 of this
14 Act.
15 "Regulated entity" means a telecommunications carrier as
16 defined by the Public Utilities Act.
17 (c) Any regulated entity found in violation of this
18 Section is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor and shall be
19 punished by a fine not to exceed $5,000.
