 1        AN ACT in relation to courts.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.   The  Court  of  Claims  Act  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (705 ILCS 505/1) (from Ch. 37, par. 439.1)
 7        Sec.  1.   Court  of Claims created. The Court of Claims,
 8    hereinafter called the court, is created. It shall consist of
 9    7 judges, who are attorneys licensed to practice law  in  the
10    State  of  Illinois,  to  be appointed by the Governor by and
11    with the advice and consent of the Senate, one of whom  shall
12    be appointed chief justice. In case of vacancy in such office
13    during  the  recess  of the Senate, the Governor shall make a
14    temporary appointment until the next meeting of  the  Senate,
15    when  he  shall  nominate some person to fill such office. If
16    the Senate is not in session  at  the  time  this  Act  takes
17    effect,  the Governor shall make temporary appointments as in
18    case of vacancy.
