 1        AN ACT in relation to vehicles.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The  Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 12-801 as follows:

 6        (625 ILCS 5/12-801) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-801)
 7        Sec.  12-801.  Color.    The  exterior of each school bus
 8    shall be national school bus glossy yellow except as follows:
 9        The rooftop may be white.
10        The fenders of school buses manufactured  before  January
11    1, 1976, may be black.
12        Body  trim,  rub  rails,  lettering  other than on a stop
13    signal arm and bumpers on a Type I school bus shall be glossy
14    black.
15        Lettering on a stop signal arm shall be white  on  a  red
16    background.
17        Bumpers  on a Type II school bus may be glossy black or a
18    bright, light or colorless finish.
19        The hood and  upper  cowl  may  be  lusterless  black  or
20    lusterless school bus yellow.
21        Grilles  on  the  front,  lamp  trim and hubcaps may be a
22    bright finish.
23        The name or emblem of a manufacturer may be colorless  or
24    any color.
25        If  approved  by  the  local  school board, signs bearing
26    public service messages, displayed within  frames  on  either
27    side or both sides of a school bus, may be any color.
28        The  exterior  paint  of  any  school bus shall match the
29    central value, hue and chroma set forth in rules  promulgated
30    by the Department.

 1        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
 2    becoming law.
