1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Renter's Financial Responsibility and
5 Protection Act is amended by adding Section 30 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 27/30 new)
7 Sec. 30. Discrimination on the basis of age is
8 prohibited. No rental company may refuse to rent a vehicle
9 to any person 18 years of age or older solely on the basis of
10 age if insurance coverage is available for persons of that
11 age. Any additional cost for insurance relating to the
12 persons's age may be charged to the person renting the
13 vehicle. A person who violates this Section is guilty of a
14 petty offense punishable by a fine of not more than $500.
