92_HB1820eng HB1820 Engrossed LRB9206292MWdv 1 AN ACT concerning emergency telephone services. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended 5 by adding Section 15.7 as follows: 6 (50 ILCS 750/15.7 new) 7 Sec. 15.7. False alarms. The Board may, by ordinance, 8 assess charges against persons making false alarms. A charge 9 may not be assessed, however, if the emergency telephone 10 system or a public safety agency is notified that the alarm 11 is unfounded before a public safety agency responds to the 12 alarm or if an alarm system is being installed, repaired, 13 maintained, or tested and the emergency telephone system and 14 public safety agency are notified in advance of the activity 15 in connection with the alarm system. In addition, a charge 16 may not be assessed against a person if the call was 17 initiated due to symptoms that could require emergency 18 medical attention. 19 An ordinance adopted under this Section must provide that 20 50% of any charge assessed for a false alarm shall be 21 remitted to the public safety agency that responded to the 22 alarm. 23 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 24 becoming law.
