1 AN ACT concerning hearing instruments.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection
5 Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 50/1) (from Ch. 111, par. 7401)
7 Sec. 1. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to protect
8 the hearing-impaired public from incompetent and dishonest
9 dispensers of hearing instruments who could endanger the
10 health, safety and welfare of the People of this State. The
11 Federal Food and Drug Administration has recommended that
12 State legislation is necessary in order to establish
13 standards of competency and to impose stringent penalties for
14 those who violate the public trust in this field of health
15 care.
