1 AN ACT concerning military property.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Military Property Act is amended by
5 changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 1810/1) (from Ch. 129, par. 222a)
7 Sec. 1. Conveyance and use of military property. The
8 Adjutant General, on behalf of the State of Illinois, is
9 authorized to accept conveyance of all right, title and
10 interest of the United States in and to any real property
11 useful to the State of Illinois for military purposes. Such
12 conveyance may be accepted subject to any one or all of the
13 following conditions:
14 (a) that title to such property will revert to the
15 United States if and when the property is no longer used for
16 the training of the National Guard or other military
17 purposes, unless other use by this State is authorized by the
18 federal government;
19 (b) that buildings or other improvements on the property
20 at the time of conveyance will not be disposed of without
21 approval of the federal government;
22 (c) that the United States may, in the event of a
23 declared war, use such property without charge for the
24 duration of such war and six months thereafter, except that
25 the United States shall, during the period of such use,
26 maintain the property and pay a fair rental for the use of
27 structures or other improvements which have been added
28 thereto without federal aid.
