Short description: MORTGAGE RELIEF ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Mortgage Relief Act and amends the State Finance Act, the Illinois Public Aid Code, and the Illinois Income Tax Act. Creates a fund out of which relief payments can be made to qualifying households threatened with eviction due to mortgage foreclosure. Authorizes the Department of Human Services to establish a relief program for this purpose, with provisions closely following the existing Homelessness Prevention Act. Provides that assistance received under the Mortgage Relief Act is not income for purposes of determining the recipient's eligibility for other State assistance programs. Provides that amounts equal to assistance that an individual receives under the Mortgage Relief Act shall be deducted from adjusted gross income in the calculation of that individual's base income. Effective immediately.
