91_SR0189 LRB9108020CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the recent death of William W. Carpenter of Hinsdale; and 4 WHEREAS, A native of Indiana, Mr. Carpenter received his 5 bachelor's degree in economics from DePauw University; he 6 served as a second lieutenant bombardier-navigator with the 7 Army Air Corps in World War II; and 8 WHEREAS, In 1949, he married his wife, Dorothy, and they 9 moved to Hinsdale in 1958; he worked at both the Continental 10 Bank and IBM before joining Smith, Bucklin & Associates; and 11 WHEREAS, Just six years after starting at Smith Bucklin 12 he rose to vice president; he served as president from 1971 13 to 1985, and from 1985 until his retirement in 1994 he served 14 as chairman of the board of committees; he continued as a 15 board member following his retirement until late last year; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 18 and friends, especially his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, 19 Carol Carpenter Wilgus; his sons, David, Donald, and Douglas; 20 and his five grandchildren; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 23 and regret the death of William W. Carpenter and extend our 24 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 25 further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 27 presented to his widow, Dorothy Carpenter.
