91_HR0468 LRB9109257KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the State 4 of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, In 1899 Hough Funeral Home began a century of 6 caring; Roscoe M. "Bally" Hough obtained his license from the 7 National School of Embalming in St. Louis; he began his 8 career with O.F. Gauer of Morrisonville; while in 9 Morrisonville he met his future wife, Clara, and together 10 they started on their new business venture; and 11 WHEREAS, After the death of Roscoe Hough in 1939, his 12 son, Robert, took over the family business; Robert received 13 his embalmer license in 1940 from Worsham College of Mortuary 14 Science and his funeral director's license in 1941; Robert's 15 son, Bill, received his license in 1975 from Worsham College 16 of Mortuary Science and continued the family business; and 17 WHEREAS, In addition to funeral homes, the Hough family 18 also operated an ambulance service and were dispatchers for 19 the Raymond-Harvel, Farmersville-Waggoner, and 20 Morrisonville-Palmer police and fire departments; the family 21 also expanded the business by adding three additional 22 locations; and 23 WHEREAS, In 1994 Daniel and David Hough, the sons of Bill 24 Hough, continued in the family business when they received 25 degrees from the Mortuary Department of Forrest Park College 26 in St. Louis; and 27 WHEREAS, On October 1, 1999, the Hough Funeral Home was 28 honored by the Illinois Historical Society for sustaining at 29 least 100 years of service and have contributed to the 30 State's civic and economic heritage; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE -2- LRB9109257KBkb 1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 2 we congratulate Hough Funeral Home on reaching the 100 year 3 milestone; and we also congratulate Hough Funeral Home on 4 being honored by the Illinois Historical Society; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Hough Funeral Home.
