1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Ruth Peckenpaugh on her
4 upcoming retirement as House Manager of the Ronald McDonald
5 House near the University of Chicago Children's Hospital; and
6 WHEREAS, Thirteen years ago Ruth Peckenpaugh began her
7 new career with the Ronald McDonald House; in September of
8 1986 she and her daughter, Janis, moved into their new home
9 and began helping the families of children in the hospital;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, The Ronald McDonald House mission is to offer
12 free housing and support to the parents and families of
13 children who may be receiving treatment for a serious
14 condition; and
15 WHEREAS, Ruth Peckenpaugh is regularly visited by people
16 needing a place like the Ronald McDonald House; about 120
17 people regularly donate time to the facilities, from cooking,
18 gardening, cleaning, and redecorating; the House operates on
19 $200,000 a year from funds raised for its support; and
20 WHEREAS, Ruth Peckenpaugh has a Bachelor's degree from
21 Wheaton College and has experience as a registered nurse;
22 together with Janis she has put in many hours of hard work
23 for others; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Ruth Peckenpaugh on a job well done; our hope
27 is the best for her retirement; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Ruth Peckenpaugh, along with our sincere
30 regards.
