1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Those individuals who minister to the spiritual
3 needs of others are worthy of the highest respect and
4 admiration; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Father Edward
6 McLaughlin is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his
7 ordination into the holy priesthood this year; and
8 WHEREAS, Father McLaughlin was ordained on May 7, 1959
9 and the event will be celebrated on Friday, April 30, 1999;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Father McLaughlin was born on October 16, 1933;
12 he was the son of John and Mary McLaughlin; and
13 WHEREAS, He served at St. Julianna, St. Michael, and St.
14 Mary Star of the Sea; he taught at Quigley South and Niles;
15 he was pastor at St. Maurice and he returned to St. Michael's
16 as pastor in 1986; and
17 WHEREAS, The illustrious life and extraordinary service
18 of Father McLaughlin are a shining example of the love of God
19 to all the people of this State; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate the Reverend Edward McLaughlin upon the 40th
23 anniversary of his ordination into the holy priesthood and
24 express great pleasure in the expectation that he will be
25 able to continue his loving service and concern for the
26 people of this State for many years to come; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Father Edward McLaughlin as a token of our great
30 respect and esteem.
