 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1248

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill  1248  on  page  1,
 3    line 6, by replacing line 6 with the following:
 4    "is amended by changing Sections 10, 20, and 35 and by adding
 5    Section 22 as follows:

 6        (215 ILCS 106/10)
 7        (Section scheduled to be repealed on June 30, 2001)
 8        Sec. 10.  Definitions.  As used in this Act:
 9        "Benchmarking"  means health benefits coverage as defined
10    in Section 2103 of the Social Security Act.
11        "Child" means a person under the age of 19.
12        "Department" means the Department of Public Aid.
13        "Medical assistance" means health care benefits  provided
14    under Article V of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
15        "Medical  visit"  means  a  hospital,  dental, physician,
16    optical, or  other  health  care  visit  where  services  are
17    provided pursuant to this Act.
18        "Program"  means the Children's Health Insurance Program,
19    and related coverage for the  adult  caretakers  of  children
20    covered  under  the  Program,  which includes subsidizing the
21    cost of privately sponsored health insurance  and  purchasing
22    or  providing  health  care  benefits  for  eligible  persons
23    children.

 1        "Resident"   means  a  person  who  meets  the  residency
 2    requirements as defined in Section 5-3 of the Illinois Public
 3    Aid Code.

 5    on page 1, line 12,  after  "eligible"  by  inserting  "under
 6    federal requirements for federal financial participation or";
 7    and

 8    on  page  3,  immediately  below  line  11,  by inserting the
 9    following:

10        "(215 ILCS 106/22 new)
11        Sec. 22.  Eligibility for adult  caretakers  of  eligible
12    children.   Subject  to  appropriation,  the Department shall
13    include coverage for the adult  caretakers  of  the  children
14    eligible  under  this  Act,  to  the extent federal financial
15    participation is available under federal law  or  waivers  of
16    federal  law.   Adult  coverage shall be defined in rules and
17    shall be modeled on the children's  coverage  and  consistent
18    with  the  provisions  governing  the  children's coverage in
19    subsection (c) of Section 20, and in Sections 25, 30, and 35.
