House Sponsors: SMITH,MICHAEL-BRUNSVOLD Short description: VEH CD-MOTORCYCLE FEES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that beginning January 1, 1998 and until January 1, 1999, $9 (instead of $8) of each annual registration fee and $4.50 (instead of $4) of each semiannual registration fee for a motorcycle, motor driven cycle, and motorized pedalcycle is deposited in the Cycle Rider Safety Training Fund. Provides that beginning January 1, 1999, $10 of each annual registration fee and $5 of each semiannual registration fee is deposited in this Fund. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Adds reference to: 625 ILCS 35/4 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 804 Amends the Cycle Rider Safety Training Act to require the Department of Transportation to charge each student of a cycle rider safety training course a fee of $20 and to deposit the fee into the Cycle Rider Safety Training Fund. FISCAL NOTE (DOT) Total additional revenue to the Cycle Rider Safety Training Fund will be approximately $331,300 for calendar year 1998 and $522,600 per year beginning with calendar 1999. Over a five year period, revenues to the Road Fund would be decreased by roughly $1.7 million, necessitating a reduction in the road program of approximately $2 million.
