House Sponsors: KOSEL-MCCARTHY-SCULLY-GASH Short description: VEH CD-SPEED LIMIT-SCHOOL ZONE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that $50 of the $150 fine for exceeding the speed limit in a school zone shall be paid to the local school district. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the minimum fine for violation of the provisions concerning the special speed limit while passing schools or while traveling through highway construction or maintenance zones is $200 instead of $150. Provides that part of the fine for exceeding the speed limit in a school zone shall be paid to a unit school district or in the case of a dual school district, to the elementary school district and high school district (instead of a local school dis- trict). Provides that the money shall be used for driver's education or school safety purposes.
