Senate Sponsors: DILLARD-PARKER Short description: YEAR 2000 COMPUTER TASK FORCE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Year 2000 Computer Date Change Task Force Act. Provides for appointment by executive and legislative branch officers of a 15-member task force to report to the Governor and the General Assembly upon problems associated with and possible solutions for the failure of State government computers to recognize the year 2000. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Adds reference to: New Act Deletes everything. Creates the Year 2000 Technology Task Force Act. Creates the Year 2000 Technology Task Force to (1) assess the current status of Year 2000 compliance on the part of State agencies, the General Assembly, the State judiciary, and units of local government, (2) analyze and prioritize corrective measures to become Year 2000 compliant, (3) prepare a timetable for completing those corrective measures, (4) estimate the fiscal impact of those corrective measures, and (5) conduct additional inquiries or studies as it deems appropriate. Requires a preliminary report from the Task Force by November 30, 1998. Effective immediately.
