Short description: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE-FIREARM Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 and the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986. Provides that a respondent who is subject to an order of protection shall be prohibited from purchasing or possessing a firearm while the order is in effect (now the respondent is prohibited from possessing a firearm if the court determines that the respondent has threatened or is likely to use firearms illegally against the petitioner). HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Makes a structural change in Section requiring the court to order that the respondent be prohibited from purchasing a firearm while the order of protection is in effect.
