Senate Sponsors: SYVERSON Short description: CONTRACTOR REPORTING ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Contractor Reporting Act. Requires a contractor doing business in this State to provide the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs with a copy of all lawsuits and bankruptcies filed with respect to the contractor or any businesses previously owned by the contractor. Also requires a contractor to provide the Department with a list of all contracting businesses previously owned by the contractor. STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE HB1684 fails to create a State mandate. FISCAL NOTE (DCCA) Estimated first year impact is $323,175. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Changes DCCA to the Office of Attorney General. Provides that the contractor shall indicate to the Office of the Attorney General the disposition of each lawsuit filed against the contractor. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Provides that the term "contractor" does not include a person who performs activities as a contractor in 10 or more states. Provides that a contractor shall provide the Office of the Attorney General with a copy of all lawsuits filed against him or her within the past 10 years rather than all lawsuits filed against him or her.
