Senate Sponsors: BURZYNSKI-SIEBEN Short description: VEH CD-BUS DRVER-ALCOHOL TEST Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to make a technical change to a provision concerning requirements for a driver transporting senior citizens. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 625 ILCS 5/6-106.3 Adds reference to: 625 ILCS 5/6-106.1a new 625 ILCS 5/6-106.1b new Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person who has been issued a school bus driver permit who drives or is in actual physical control of a school bus is deemed to have given consent to a chemical test or tests of blood, breath, or urine for the purpose of determining the alcohol content of the person's blood if arrested if a police officer has probable cause to believe that the driver has consumed any amount of an alcoholic beverage. Provides that if the person refuses testing or submits to a test that discloses an alcohol concentration of more than 0.00, the law enforcement officer shall submit a report to the Secretary of State. Provides that upon receipt of the report, the Secretary shall enter a school bus driver permit sanction on the person's driving record. Provides for notice of the sanction to be given to the driver and the driver's current employer. Provides for a hearing to contest the sanction. Provides that a person whose privilege to possess a school bus driver permit has been cancelled is not eligible for restoration of the privilege until the expiration of 3 years.
