BERMAN AND OBAMA. New Act Creates the Commission on the Status of Women Act. Creates a 16 member Commission to study the status of women in this State and make recommendations for constructive action in certain areas. Provides that the Commission shall also study and analyze all facts relating to Illinois laws, rules, and guidelines with respect to equal protection under the Illinois Constitution and that the Commission shall survey activity in the area of status of women carried on by any commission, agency, or department of the federal government, any state, or any private organization or association and may cooperate with any of those entities in conducting investigations and studies. Allows the Commission to accept monetary gifts or grants from the federal government, or an agency of the federal government, any charitable foundation or professional association, or any other reputable source for the implementation of any program necessary or desirable for carrying out the general purposes of the Commission. Provides that Commission members shall not receive compensation for their service. Exempts the Commission from the provisions of the Personnel Code and any other law concerning State employment.
