In Article concerning minors requiring authoritative intervention, provides that a law enforcement officer shall return a truant minor to school. If the minor refuses to return to school, the minor shall be held in limited custody. Provides that a truant minor in need of supervision may be held in detention for a period not to exceed 30 days. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 705 ILCS 405/3-4 Deletes amendatory changes permitting a law enforcement officer to take a truant minor into limited custody. Provides that a chronic truant in a county of less than 2,000,000 inhabitants shall be adjudged a truant minor in need of supervision. Deletes provision permitting the court to order a truant minor in need of supervision to be held in detention for a period not to exceed 30 days. Provides that there is a rebuttable presumption that a chronic truant is a truant minor in need of supervision and a rebuttable presumption that school attendance records of a minor are authentic. Defines chronic truant as that term is defined in the School Code. Provides that dispositional orders concerning truant minors in need of supervision may be enforced by contempt proceedings. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
