CURRIE-JONES,LOU-O'BRIEN AND HOWARD. (SMITH-OBAMA-TROTTER) 20 ILCS 1305/10-25 Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Provides that the Department shall include a lactation support services program for participants in the Women, Infants and Children program. Provides that the program shall pay for lactation equipment as well as lactation specialists. Provides that the Department shall coordinate the Women, Infants and Children program with the Medicaid program though an interagency agreement whereby each program provides information about the other to applicants for services. FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Public Health) Total estimated cost for FY98 would be $9,937,174. STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE In the opinion of DCCA, HB619 fails to create a State mandate under the State Mandates Act. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Makes the lactation support services program permissive rather than mandatory for the Department and provides that it may be offered to pregnant and breast feeding women in the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program. Provides that the lactation specialists need only have completed a lactation management training program, and not necessarily one sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children.
