Requires payment of any resulting additional cost to the fund. Allows a person with less than 8 years of creditable service to receive a retirement pension from a police pension fund, if the person has at least 8 years of credit in another police pension fund and is receiving a retirement pension. Allows reinstatement of service terminated by refund. Allows chiefs who have elected to participate in IMRF to rescind that election until January 1, 1999 and to transfer certain credits back to the police pension fund. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE Fiscal impact is not expected to be substantial. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Changes the provisions relating to the calculation and payment of the additional contribution that may be required upon transfer of creditable service. Prohibits the transfer of creditable service from the pension fund established by the municipality that was the officer's first police employer unless (i) the police officer actively served in the police department of that municipality for at least 4 years or (ii) the police officer is not in service with that employer on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act.
