90_SR0248 LRB9013386KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of 4 Samuel A. Rizzo, who passed away September 26, 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, Samuel A. Rizzo earned his Bachelor's Degree in 6 Education from Chicago Teachers College in 1963; in 1969 he 7 received his Master's Degree in Health and Physical Education 8 from George Williams College; in 1971 he earned a Master's 9 Degree in Administration from Loyola University; in 1995 he 10 received his Doctorate in Education from Loyola University; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, Samuel A. Rizzo was a school district 13 administrator for 28 years; he served as principal of Lawn 14 Manor School in Oak Lawn; he was principal of Hamlin Upper 15 Grade Center in Alsip; for the last nine years he served as 16 Atwood Heights Elementary School District 125 Superintendent; 17 and 18 WHEREAS, Samuel A. Rizzo was awarded the Regional 19 Illinois Education Association Professional Excellence Award 20 in 1978, the Outstanding Principal Award in 1979, the 21 IEA/National Education Association Outstanding Service Award 22 in 1979, the Bremen Youth Association Man of the Year Award 23 in 1985, the Principal Award for Excellence in 1988, and the 24 South Metropolitan Association Partnership Award in 1992; and 25 WHEREAS, Samuel A. Rizzo is survived by his wife, Jane; 26 his daughters, Aimee Rizzo and Julie Rizzo; his sons, James 27 Rizzo and Tom Rizzo; his mother, Frances Rizzo; and his 28 brothers, Tony Rizzo and Alfred Rizzo; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 30 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his 31 family and friends, the death of Samuel A. Rizzo; may they -2- LRB9013386KBkb 1 find comfort and peace in this time of need; and be it 2 further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to the family of Samuel A. Rizzo.
