1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of John C. Hojek, former Chief of the Evergreen
4 Park Fire Department, on October 14, 1998; and
5 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Evergreen Park, Mr. Hojek
6 started at the fire department as a cadet; he then worked as
7 a volunteer firefighter before becoming a full-time
8 firefighter and moving up in the ranks to deputy chief; and
9 WHEREAS, He was named chief in November of 1980; he had
10 worked for the department for forty years before he retired
11 in January of 1998; and
12 WHEREAS, He earned the respect and admiration of all who
13 worked under him; and
14 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
15 and friends, especially his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Traci
16 Post; his sons, John Jr., Bradley, Keith, Corey, and Greg;
17 his brother, Richard; and 14 grandchildren; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
19 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
20 the death of Chief John C. Hojek and extend our sincere
21 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to his widow, Sharon Hojek.
