1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the recent death of George Bracken of the Village of
4 Lemont; and
5 WHEREAS, He began his political career in 1961 when he
6 became a police magistrate; he was elected a village trustee
7 in 1971; and
8 WHEREAS, He was elected mayor in 1973 and held that
9 position until 1982 when he was appointed Lemont's first
10 village administrator; he stepped down in 1991; and
11 WHEREAS, George Bracken led the town from a small
12 community to a modern suburb; and
13 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
14 and friends, especially his wife, Fran; his son, Andrew; his
15 daughter, Jacqueline Spence; his granddaughter; and his
16 sisters, Dolores Hoaglund, Gloria Jagodzinski, and Roseann
17 Schikora; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
19 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
20 the death of George Bracken and wish to extend our deepest
21 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to his widow, Fran Bracken.
