1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Mr. Larry Nowlin; and
4 WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Nowlin was a member of the Local
5 School Council Advisory Board; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Nowlin was an unpaid volunteer in the
7 Chicago Public Schools for more than twenty-five years; he
8 was subsequently appointed as a member of the Citywide Local
9 School Council Advisory Board; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Nowlin represented Chicago parents in
11 Springfield before the Illinois General Assembly for many
12 years; he was an active advocate for school reform since his
13 own three children were in elementary school; and
14 WHEREAS, Larry Nowlin was an articulate, likeable, and
15 popular man who was active in community-based organizations
16 for many years; and
17 WHEREAS, Larry Nowlin was married to his childhood
18 sweetheart, Dorothy, and together they raised a beautiful
19 family; Larry Nowlin truly embodied the phrase "family
20 values", because of the life he lived; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
22 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his
23 family and friends, the death of Larry Nowlin; may they find
24 peace and comfort in this time of loss; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the family of Larry Nowlin.
