1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate are saddened to learn
3 of the recent death of Judge William V. "Doc" Hopf of
4 Wheaton; and
5 WHEREAS, Judge Hopf was the DuPage County State's
6 Attorney for three terms; he became a circuit judge, then
7 chief judge of the DuPage Circuit Court in 1979; and
8 WHEREAS, Judge Hopf had the reputation of being a legend
9 in his own time, being a major figure in the DuPage justice
10 system for well over a quarter of a century; and
11 WHEREAS, He retired in 1988 while justice of the Second
12 Judicial Appellate Court; and
13 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
14 and friends, especially his wife, Eleanor; his sons, Paul,
15 James, and Michael; his granddaughters, Nichole, Lauren, and
16 Christine; and his sisters, Barbara Scott, Genevieve
17 Phillips, and Elizabeth Peterson; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
19 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
20 the death of Judge William V. "Doc" Hopf and extends our
21 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
22 further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to Mrs. Eleanor Hopf.
