90_SR0182 LRB9011946CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Barbara Hochberg, chairwoman of the board of 4 directors of the Jewish Federation/Jewish United Fund of 5 Metropolitan Chicago, on Thursday, March 26, 1998; and 6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hochberg was the first chairwoman in the 98 7 year history of Chcago's Jewish Foundation; she also worked 8 as a merchandise manager of Sportmart, Inc., founded by her 9 husband, Larry; and 10 WHEREAS, She has served as general chairwoman of the 11 Jewish United Fund's' 1990 campaign; she was co-chairman of 12 the Israel Area Committee of the American Jewish Joint 13 Distribution Committee and a recipient of the American Jewish 14 Congress' Deborah Award; and 15 WHEREAS, She was born in Chicago and graduated from New 16 Trier High School in Winnetka and Northwestern University; 17 she taught elementary school in Mt. Prospect and Skokie; and 18 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 19 and friends, especially her husband, Larry; her daughter, 20 Amy; her son, Andrew; her mother, Charlotte Price; her 21 brother, William Pinkerson; and seven grandchildren; 22 therefore, be it 23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 24 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret 25 the death of Barbara Hochberg and extend our deepest 26 condolences to her family and friends; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to her husband, Larry Hochberg.
