90_SR0152 LRB9009761CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, THe members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Horace H. Holman on January 17, 1998; and 4 WHEREAS, He was born on July 17, 1912, the only child of 5 Reverend and Mrs. Houston Holman; and 6 WHEREAS, After moving to Chicago, Horace Holman enlisted 7 in the United States Army where he served in the Medical 8 Unit; he received an Honorable Discharge in 1945 following an 9 accumulation of Service Stripes and Citations; and 10 WHEREAS, After returning to Chicago, he continued his 11 education to receive a Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall 12 Law School/Blackstone School of Law; and 13 WHEREAS, He retired as Supervisor of the City of Chicago 14 Department of Purchasing and Receiving in 1985; he remained 15 active as President of the Senior Citizens' Committee of the 16 9th Ward and Precinct Captain for 45 years; he was involved 17 with the Community Watch Program and was a member of the 18 Deacon Committee at Roseland Presbyterian and a lifetime 19 member of the AMVETS Organization Post 152; and 20 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply missed by his wife, 21 Marie; his children, Harry, Anita, Michael, and Pamela; and 22 his grandchildren, Charletha, Charles, Tameka, Harry, 23 Latrice, and Tonika; therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 25 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our sincere 26 condolences to the family of Horace H. Holman; and be it 27 further 28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 29 presented to his widow, Marie Holman.
