90_SR0080 LRB9005804CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Mrs. Mildred B. Stewart of Chicago on May 16, 4 1997; and 5 WHEREAS, She was born in Louisville, Arkansas, on 6 February 5, 1926, the daughter of Jehugh Bryant and Lucy 7 Faulkner-Bryant; she graduated fron Englewood High School and 8 attended Central YMCA and Chicago Teachers College; and 9 WHEREAS, She was married to Patrick Crigler and this 10 union was blessed with three children, Edith, Patrick 11 (Khalid), and Thelma; Patrick preceded her in death; and 12 WHEREAS, In 1971, she married Leonard B. Stewart and they 13 joined their families to raise eight children; and 14 WHEREAS, She was well respected at her position as 15 Section Commander of the Record Inquiry Section with the 16 Chicago Police Department; her warm and kind personality and 17 her inspiring leadership earned her the respect of all who 18 had the privilege of knowing her; she retired in 1993; and 19 WHEREAS, Mildred Stewart was loved by all; she leaves a 20 legacy of unselfishness and concern for others that will long 21 be remembered; and 22 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 23 and countless friends, especially her husband, Leonard; her 24 children, Edith, Patrick (Khalid), Thelma, Leonard, Faziu, 25 Aisha, Amtul, and Qudsia; thirty-two grandchildren; twelve 26 great-grandchildren; her brother, Clarence; the special star 27 in her crown, Brandi J'anie Smith; and several other 28 relatives; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 30 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret -2- LRB9005804CBcb 1 the death of Mrs. Mildred B. Stewart and extend our sincere 2 condolences to her family and friends; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 4 presented to the family of Mrs. Mildred B. Stewart.
