90_SR0067 LRB9005683KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Thomas Welcher, Jr. of Chicago, 4 Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Thomas Welcher, Jr. was born August 10, 1940, in 6 Atlanta, Georgia; his parents were Thomas Welcher, Sr. and 7 Marion Welcher; and 8 WHEREAS, At the age of four Thomas moved to Chicago, 9 Illinois; he attended Holy Name of Mary grade school and 10 graduated from Carver High School; at an early age Thomas 11 accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour; he was loyal and 12 devoted member of St. Jude Thaddeus Church; and 13 WHEREAS, Thomas met Mary, and on March 7, 1964 they were 14 wed as husband and wife; from this union they were blessed 15 with three children; and 16 WHEREAS, Thomas Welcher, Jr., graduated from Allied 17 Institute of Technology on August 11, 1966; from 1970 to 1973 18 he was employed as a Boiler Fireman for the City of Chicago; 19 Thomas was employed by the Chicago Board of Education for 20 twenty-two years before his retirement in December of 1995; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, Thomas Welcher, Jr., is survived by his loving 23 wife Mary; his three wonderful daughters Michelle, Lori 24 (Anthony), and Lisa; his sister Elizabeth Haney; his 25 granddaughter Letitia Evans; his cousin Charles Murray and 26 his wife Ada; his sister-in-law Marjorie Cain and her husband 27 David, and sister-in-law Julia Hammond and her husband 28 Donald; his special friends, who he considered brothers, 29 William Gordon, and George and William Lyke; his special 30 friends, who he considered sisters, Carmella Gordon and Rita 31 Kyles; his life long friends Jacqueline and John Aycox; as -2- LRB9005683KBkb 1 well as several relatives and friends; therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 3 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his 4 family and friends, the death of Thomas Welcher, Jr., of 5 Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Thomas Welcher, Jr.
