Replaces provisions detailing the positions the Supreme Court may authorize the chief judge of any single county circuit to fill in administering each circuit's court reporters staff and itemizing maximum salaries to be paid for each position with a provision that the Supreme Court may authorize the chief judge to appoint an administrator of court reporters and such other administrative, secretarial, and support staff as may be necessary. LRB9011366SMdv LRB9011366SMdv 1 AN ACT to amend the Court Reporters Act by changing 4.1. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Court Reporters Act is amended by 5 changing Section 4.1 as follows: 6 (705 ILCS 70/4.1) (from Ch. 37, par. 654.1) 7 Sec. 4.1. Appointment and Salary of Administrative 8 Personnel. 9 (a) The Supreme Court may authorize the chief judge of 10 any single county circuit in which official court reporting 11 services are centrally administered, (1)to appoint from 12 among the court reporters appointed in the circuit an 13 Administrator of Court Reporters and such other 14 administrative, secretarial, and support staff as may be 15 necessary, a Deputy Administrator of Court Reporters and 216Assistant Administrators of Court Reporters, (2) to designate17from among the court reporters appointed in the circuit one18Reporter Supervisor and one Assistant Reporter Supervisor for19each Department and Division of the circuit court, and (3) to20appoint secretarial and other support staff to assist the21Administrator. Each Administrator, Deputy Administrator,22Assistant Administrator, Reporter Supervisor, and Assistant23Reporter Supervisor shall have an "A" proficiency rating, by24examination, as provided in Section 7.25(b) Administrative personnel appointed under this26Section shall be paid by the State.27(1) In addition to their regular salary as official28court reporters, the administrative personnel appointed under29this Section shall be paid such additional sums as the30Supreme Court specifies. Such sums shall be included in the31pay schedule adopted pursuant to Section 8. The additional-2- LRB9011366SMdv 1amounts paid shall reflect the burden of administrative2responsibility borne by the administrative personnel and the3consequent lack of opportunity to produce transcripts of4testimony. The additional amounts paid to such personnel5shall not exceed the following:6(A) Administrator of Court Reporters: $20,000 per7year;8(B) Deputy Administrator of Court Reporters:9$15,000 per year;10(C) Assistant Administrators of Court Reporters:11$13,000 per year;12(D) Reporter Supervisors: $10,000 per year.13(E) Assistant Reporter Supervisors: $5,000 per14year.15(2) Each of the secretarial and other support staff16authorized under this Section shall be paid a salary as17determined per year by the Supreme Court. 18 (Source: P.A. 86-1378.) 19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 20 becoming law.
