a technical change to the Section concerning the purpose of

1 AN ACT to amend the Department of Natural Resources Act
2 by changing Section 1-5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources Act is
6 amended by changing Section 1-5 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 801/1-5)
8 Sec. 1-5. Purpose. It is the purpose of this Act to
9 change the name of the Department of Conservation to the
10 Department of Natural Resources and to transfer to the
11 Department of Natural Resources it various rights, powers,
12 duties, and functions of the Department of Energy and Natural
13 Resources, the Department of Mines and Minerals, the
14 Abandoned Mined Lands Reclamation Council, and the Division
15 of Water Resources of the Department of Transportation. This
16 Act also transfers certain recycling, energy, and oil
17 overcharge functions of the Department of Energy and Natural
18 Resources to the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs
19 and certain functions of the Department of Conservation
20 related to the Lincoln Monument to the Historic Preservation
21 Agency. This Act consolidates and centralizes the programs
22 and services now offered to citizens by these governmental
23 bodies, resulting in more effective operation of these
24 programs and services.
