Amends the School Construction Law. Provides that if a
school district is required by law to submit a school
construction project or its financing to a referendum, the
referendum may be held either before or after the State Board
of Education has approved district's application and issued a
grant entitlement for the school construction project grant.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Construction Law by changing
2 Section 5-50.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Construction Law is amended by
6 changing Section 5-50 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 230/5-50)
8 Sec. 5-50. Referendum requirements. If After the State
9 Board of Education approves has approved all or part of a
10 district's application and issues issued a grant entitlement
11 for a school construction project grant, the district shall
12 submit the project or the financing of the project to a
13 referendum if when such referendum is required by law. If a
14 school district is required by law to submit a school
15 construction project or its financing to a referendum, the
16 referendum may be held either before or after the State Board
17 of Education has approved the district's application and
18 issued a grant entitlement for a school construction project
19 grant.

21 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22 becoming law.
