Amend Senate Bill 1215 on page 1, 3 lines 2 and 6, by changing "Sections 12-3.2 and 12-30" 4 wherever it appears to "Sections 12-3.2, 12-30, and 24-8"; 5 and 6 on page 3, by inserting after line 17 the following: 7 "(720 ILCS 5/24-8) 8 Sec. 24-8. Firearm tracing. 9 (a) Upon recovering a firearm from the possession of 10 anyoneunder 21 years of agewho is not permitted by federal 11 or State law to possess a firearm, a local law enforcement 12 agency shall use the best available information, including a 13 firearms trace whenwherenecessary, to determine how and 14 from whomwherethe personunder 21 years of agegained 15 possession of the firearm. 16 (b) Local law enforcement shall, when appropriate, use 17 the National Tracing Center of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, 18 Tobacco and Firearms in complying with subsection (a) of this 19 Section. 20 (c) Local law enforcement agencies shall use the 21 Illinois Department of State Police Law Enforcement Agencies 22 Data System (LEADS) Gun File to enter all stolen, seized, or -2- LRB9007695RCksam 1 recovered firearms as prescribed by LEADS regulations and 2 policies. 3 (Source: P.A. 90-137, eff. 1-1-98.)".
