The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 6 changing Section 4-7 as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 5/4-7) (from Ch. 38, par. 4-7) 8 Sec. 4-7. Negligence. 9 A person is negligent, or acts negligently, when he or 10 she fails to be aware of a substantial and unjustifiable risk 11 that circumstances exist or a result will follow, described 12 by the statute defining the offense; and such failure 13 constitutes a substantial deviation from the standard of care 14 which a reasonable person would exercise in the situation. 15 (Source: Laws 1961, p. 1983.)
