Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that any
vehicle sold or leased in this State must be equipped with a
trunk safety release located inside the trunk of the motor
vehicle.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding
2 Section 12-612.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 adding Section 12-612 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/12-612 new)
8 Sec. 12-612. Trunk safety release. Any motor vehicle
9 sold or leased in this State must be equipped with a trunk
10 safety release located inside the trunk of the motor vehicle.
