90_SB0603ccr001 LRB9003061DPdvccr1 1 90TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2 CONFERENCE COMMITTEE REPORT 3 ON SENATE BILL 603 4 ------------------------------------------------------------- 5 ------------------------------------------------------------- 6 To the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the 7 House of Representatives: 8 We, the conference committee appointed to consider the 9 differences between the houses in relation to House Amendment 10 No. 2 to Senate Bill 603, recommend the following: 11 (1) that the Senate concur in House Amendment No. 2; and 12 (2) that Senate Bill 603, AS AMENDED, be further 13 amended, with reference to the page and line numbers of House 14 Amendment No. 2, on page 1, in line 10, after "17,", by 15 inserting "18,"; and 16 on page 32, below line 1, by inserting the following: 17 "(225 ILCS 85/18) (from Ch. 111, par. 4138) 18 Sec. 18. Record retention. There shall be kept in every 19 drugstore or pharmacy a suitable book, file, or electronic 20 record keeping system in which shall be preserved for a 21 period of not less than 5 years the original of every written 22 prescription and the original transcript or copy of every 23 verbal prescription filled, compounded, or dispensed, in such 24 pharmacy; and such book or file of prescriptions shall at all 25 reasonable times be open to inspection to the pharmacy 26 coordinator and the duly authorized agents or employees of 27 the Department. 28 Records kept pursuant to this Section may be maintained 29 in an alternative data retention system, such as a direct 30 digital imaging system, provided that: 31 (1) the records maintained in the alternative data 32 retention system contain all of the information required 33 in a manual record; -2- LRB9003061DPdvccr1 1 (2) the data processing system is capable of 2 producing a hard copy of the electronic record on the 3 request of the Board, its representative, or other 4 authorized local, State, or federal law enforcement or 5 regulatory agency; and 6 (3) the digital images are recorded and stored only 7 by means of a technology that does not allow subsequent 8 revision or replacement of the images. 9 As used in this Section, "digital imaging system" means a 10 system, including people, machines, methods of organization, 11 and procedures, that provides input, storage, processing, 12 communications, output, and control functions for digitized 13 representations of original prescription records. 14 Inpatient drug orders may be maintained within an 15 institution in a manner approved by the Department. 16 (Source: P.A. 85-796.)"; and 17 on page 40, in line 9, after "Act.", by inserting the 18 following: 19 "Section 99. Effective date.
