1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 454
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 454, AS AMENDED,
3 by replacing the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT in relation to transportation."; and
5 by inserting after the enacting clause the following:
6 "Section 2. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by
7 changing Section 9-102 as follows:
8 (605 ILCS 5/9-102) (from Ch. 121, par. 9-102)
9 Sec. 9-102. The proper highway authorities are authorized
10 to keep vehicles of every kind off the public highways where
11 necessary to properly construct or repair the same.
12 Whenever any public highway including any bridge or
13 culvert thereon is being constructed or repaired, the highway
14 authorities having such work in charge shall, when they deem
15 it necessary, erect or cause to be erected at such points as
16 they deem desirable, suitable barriers, with signs thereon,
17 stating that such highway is closed, and by whose order.
18 Such authorities shall also erect or cause to be erected
19 at such places as they deem best, detour signs directing
20 travel around such construction or repair work.
21 Such signs and barricades shall conform to the Manual of

1 Uniform Traffic Control Devices adopted by the Department.
